The old mango tree in the house behind mine is being cut down to make way for a new apartment block.
New apartment blocks are a common sight in this part of the city. In fact, my family’s flat is also part of an apartment block that used to be a house. I didn’t watch those trees being chopped, but I’m watching this one being cut down now.
When all the trees have been cut down,
When all the animals have been hunted,
When all the waters are polluted,
Only then will you discover you cannot eat money.
